The big release popping off this week (last week for pirates), is Alicia Key’s third studio album, “As I Am”. Being that I am a proud pirate, in the sake of spreading good music, I already have it. And wow, what an album. Plenty of great tracks worth your money. Here are a couple of my favorites.
Alicia Keys – Superwoman. To me this is the best song on the album by far. Not even sure what it is, but something about her voice in this song is mesmerizing. Great lyrics and an amazing production.

Alicia Keys – Wreckless Love. With another incredible production on this track, “Wreckless Love” just has feel good written all over it. The change ups and constant movement in this song give it great energy. Alicia is so smooth.

Pittsburgh Slim – Girls Kiss Girls (ReFixxx). Here is an interesting club track. Not sure what to make of it, but its got a pretty dope beat, and a clever chorus (which I hope works when I play it next time!!). It was produced by legendary producer Ski from the classic hip-hop group Camp Lo. I was actually a bit surprised to find out about Ski’s connection, being that he made some of the gulliest hip-hop records, including classic tracks by Jay-Z and others. But I won’t hate. However, I’m sure all the hip-hop snobs will find this very unpleasing. Enjoy!

Wale vs Budos Band – Chicago Falcon Remix. Wale is that dude! He got next in this game, along with the Cool Kids and a few others. He recently released a mixtape with a bunch of remixes, including this incredible remake of the Budos Band track “Chicago Falcon”. Funky ass beat with fresh a great delivery. You need this in your life.

Lupe Fiasco – Superstar Ft. Matthew Santos. This is the new single off of Lupe’s upcoming album. Amidst all the other leaked songs, this is the best by far. I was worried for a bit because his other single “Dumb It Down” was rather weak. But he definitely came off proper on this song with what sounds like a Chris Martin double.

Kanye West – Hey Mama. Not much can be said when somebody loses their mother, just as Kanye has lost his this past weekend. So I’ma just post a song off Kanye’s debut album, which is so appropriate. At least Kanye’s mom was able to see her son’s success over the years, and was even present while Kanye sang this song to her on the Oprah show. How many moms can claim that?
