Music Mondays — Mad hip-hop coming up
Been such a crazy week, so this post came a day late. Everyone and their mother is gearing up for the Rock The Bells Tour this Saturday. Much like last year, this event is expected to be crazy! All you gotta do is look at the lineup, and you’ll want to slap your moms senseless.
But with so much gutter hip-hop coming down this weekend, I figured I would show you peeps a bunch of hard electro bullshit as well to compliment it. All for the sake of balance.
Boy 8-Bit – Fog Bank (Jack Beats Remix). This is some heavy rave shit. The kid Boy 8-Bit has been putting out lots of dope tracks and remixes lately, and this is on of the better ones in my opinion. It was actually remixed by another heavy hitter, Jack Beats. Needless to say, this shit hits hard as fuck. Cover your ears in the club when this drops.
Hot Chip – Colours (Fred Falke Remix). Here is some more electro heat by another big remixer. Hot Chip has been doing real big the past couple years, and just like many of their songs, this one got remixed lovely. Very chill vibe going on here, with some nice vocals to match.
Russ Chimes – Mulsanne. I’m not quite sure who this dude is, but he appeared i my playlist with a dope ass instrumental. This is a great track with many changeups, including some cowbell towards the middle. Fucking cowbell! Its coming back y’all, i already told you.
DJ Pharris, Busta Rhymes, R kelly & Fabolous – The Money. This is some classic R. Kelly type shit. I guess peopel still can;t leave that “middle eastern” sound alone. The horn on this sounds lovely, and it flows nicely with a heavy bass kick dropping in every few bars. Dope for the club, and the for chillin in the whip.
Luney Tunez, Gorilla Zoe & Yung Joc – Powerful Drawz Remix. Everybody is still up on that T-Pain shit. It now just crossed over to reggae! It came out real nice though. I love me some chill, laid-back reggae, and this definitely fits the description. Great singing, and decent rapping. bang this in the whip.
Fat Freddy’s Drop – Flashback (jazzanova’s mashed bag). Here is a classic remix that I got put on again recently. Pretty old, but damn this feels so good. The vocals, the lyrics, the beat, all amazing. Its got a real smooth, soul sound, but then switches up a bit for the bridge. It comes in with that Spinners type sound you might recognize from all those old school Motown records. Fantastic song.
Wynd Chymes – Baby You’re The One. Here is a classic roller boogie 80s joint. Came across this recently digging through records, and it is funky as hell. You can’t beat those 80s basslines with soulful vocals. I dare you to stand still on the dancefloor while this shit comes on.
