Music Mondays — Obama Rick Rolled
Its been a very long three weeks, but we are finally back! Sweet jesus! This site is in the midst of some changes, so bear with us. But here we are with another edition of music mondays fo’ yo’ ass.
Had to start off with the Obama video cause it is so epic! That must have taken forever to put together. Classic material. I also had to throw in a couple Obama related songs. There were too many to drop. I never seen this kind of presidential fever in hip-hop. But then again, I haven’t been around long, and neither has hip-hop.
Big Boi – Sumthins Gotta Give Ft. Mary J Blige. One of the better “pro-Obama” songs. This beat is pretty sick, on some smooth type shit with some nice rhode action going on. Sounds like a live bass as well. Big Boi is stepping it up on this one.
Ludacris – Obama Is Here. This one is blatantly more “pro-Obama”. Luda even got in a bit of trouble with this cause of the shit he said about Hillary. You know Papa Bear O’reilly got all mad and all those other old white folks who just don’t get it. Good tune.
Murs – Can It Be. One of the most original rappers in the game right now, Murs keeps on bringing it hard. This is on some good old hip-hop steez with a fresh ass beat. As always, Murs keeps it real with soem nice storytelling and strong lyrics.
J Dilla & Ghostface Killah – Murder Goons. Not quite sure where this came from, but makes you wish Dilla never left. Ghostface should have been messing with Dilla way before Fish Scale. Dilla gave him a few beats for that album, but he should have been around to give him more. Dilla + Ghost is just too damn dope.
Termanology & Bun B – How We Rock. This is some fresh new boom bap from one of the pioneers, DJ Premier. He teams up with Termanology again, and they get Bun B to jump on as well. This is just some straight up no frills, hip-hop gutter shit. Pretty cool, but gets kind of boring towards the end.
DJ Pharris – The Money Ft. Busta Rhymes, R Kelly & Fabolous. Damn, some more heavy hip-hop shit. I’m going in hard today, pause. This one is a bit more poppy, with R. Kelly on the hook. But fuck, the beat hits hard! Them flutes, or whatever it is, are fresh as fuck. Dope beat, dope concept!
Ida Corr – Ride My Tempo (wideboys remix). Gotta cool it down with some new house. This is a nice remix by the infamous Wideboys. Not too heavy, but still thick enough to bang out your speakers. Watch out for this one.
DJ Khaled – Out Here Grinding (Amphibious Club Remix). Here is a fresh Bmore track with minimal vocals. Amphibious took Khaled’s current single, and basically took the best part, Akon’s vocals. Pretty slick track with some heavy synths to back up the Bmore drum track. Try this out on the dance floor.
