Music Mondays — Crossin Genre’s
Kraak & Smaak vs Trevor – Squeeze Me (Trevor REMIX). This has been getting a lot of burn lately on commercial radio, and even some phone commercial I think. What’s crazy about it is how many genres this thing crosses over to. B-boys will be loving this, while at the same time, girls will will be getting down to the killer dance groove. Next level son!
Company B – Fascinated (DJ Craze REMIX). The legendary Craze takes a freestyle classic and puts his flavor on top of it. Keeping only the chorus vocals, Craze flips this beat into some smooth rave style banger. The thick synths will fill up any club speakers, amping up the energy on the dancefloor.
The LeftOuts – Fugitive. Here is a classic track by some of the Fresh Basil buddies. I think I only posted this song in form of a live performance by Wrekonize. He was performing it in a show at PS14. So here is the song for those that never got it. Classic.
D’Nell – Lace (Nicolay Vocal REMIX). Here’s a track by a group that fascinates me, D’Nell. They always got deep, soulful R&B grooves that are just my cup of tea. Another heavyweight in the neo-soul game, Nicolay, got together with them and remixed a track. Came out pretty nice.
Plugs – Imaginary Friend. This is an interesting track I got off another blog the other week. The beat is so on point, with its crispy clean drum track which changes for the chorus, and its smooth synths in the background. I showed this track to a female friend, and she said it was gay rock music. Word? I think she’s just hating.
Ce Ce Peniston vs Bart B More – Finally (Bart B More Remix). This dude has been remixing joints for a minute, always adding his dope electro flavor to the mix. This one is no different. Its always hard taking such a classic song, and making it dope again. But Bart B Bmore did exactly that, adding the classic piano loop in the mix. Damn!! Shit is so damn smooth.
Praveen & Benoit – Embers (Machinedrum REMIX). Lastly, here is some smooth vibes to chill out to. Machine Drum took a rather simple sample and flipped it on some entirely different shit, adding a whole bunch of electro layers and knocking ass drums. This is sample flipping at its best.
