Make way for The Red Room
December 11th, 2007 // Posted by sweet dick vega
A recent movement that has been long in the making, The Red Room encompasses 5 members trying to bring back some good music to the Miami scene. The Red Room team consists of producers, emcees, a poet, and even a graphic design artist. They are a nice mix of individuals who come together and make music that is influenced by jazz, funk, soul, and everything that is good.
The video above is only the first of many more to come. It shows a brief glimpse into their world, and what they will be working on in the months ahead. Their plan is to release a new video once or twice a month, showcasing behind the scenes footage in the studio, interviews, spoken word sessions, concert footage, and guest appearances as well. All music and content in the videos will be their’s solely, including the beat in the video above, produced by Felo.
It will be a fresh and innovative way to keep updated with a local crew that you might not be able to see out in the streets often. The videos will be posted on their MySpace page, as well as on our site periodically. So stay tuned until then, many big things ahead!

One of Florida’s best kept secrets, CYNE, has just released some new music.. for free! Its been a while since CYNE has blessed the people. Their last album “Evolution Flight” came out in 2005. Although it was a great album, people always crave for more!
On the 8 track EP, which you can download on their site, 4 previously unreleased songs are showcased including their respective instrumentals. Much to my surprise, Fresh Basil familia is all over it, including Seven Star, Stress, and Soarse Spoken. My favorite track features all three!
CYNE - Floatin’ Ft. Seven Star, Soarse Spoken, & Stress.
Also, I’ve heard that some people are having problems with the zip file they downloaded off the CYNE site. So I have uploaded another version here.
Butta Verses - “Round And Round” (VIDEO)
December 3rd, 2007 // Posted by sweet dick vega
Hailing out of Broward County, Butta Verses has been on top of the Florida underground scene for years. He’s been featured on De La Soul albums, and has toured the nation opening up for major, major acts.
Here is a new video released this past week, for the song “Round and Round”. I was told this video was made about a year ago, sop I’m not sure why it took them so long t release. Dope stuff either way.
DJ I-Dee sits down with Qbert
November 29th, 2007 // Posted by sweet dick vega
Fresh Basil familia DJ I-Dee recently sat down with DJ Qbert for an interview. Qbert was down in Miami last month for a performance at Studio A, where I-Dee opened up for him.
Anyways, this video is pretty ridiculous. I-Dee is always posting up some funny ass stuff, and he got Qbert to play along in this one. Too funny.

A Miami hip-hop and B-Boy legend, Rudi Golben will be performing his one man show “Insanity Isn’t”, tonight (Friday) at the The Light Box, at 8:00 PM.
Both written and performed by Rudi himself, the show includes a story of Acey Sickly who is plagued by facing the realities of a life he never really wanted. It includes B-Boy movement, beat boxing and rhyme woven together to the tapestry of Acey’s life while he slowly embarks on a journey back to insane sanity.
I’ve been told that reservations have been met, but there will still be some seats available on a first come first serve basis. So get there before 8 PM. Don’t miss this!
ArtOfficial - “Big City Bright Lights” Video.. Plus behind the scenes coverage!!
August 31st, 2007 // Posted by sweet dick vega
If you are knowledgeable of the Miami hip hop scene, then ArtOfficial needs no introduction. It seems as if you can’t escape there presence in the Miami scene. They can be seen performing in most hip hop bars or lounges on a frequent basis, and have started what seems like a bi-monthly event called State of the Art, where they perform for a well deserved following.
Now they have a video to add to their catalogue. The video was shot for their new single “Big City Bright Lights”. And I love it! Came out real nice and clean. The video even features footage from one of their live performances at PS14.
Fresh Basil fam Stella Hernandez was able to catch the making of the video. Chilling with the band, and snapping away, Stella was able to capture what went on behind the scenes. Click on the picture below to view the pictures from the video shoot.

Wrekonize and DJ I-Dee touring China. Parts 2 & 3.
August 23rd, 2007 // Posted by sweet dick vega
Back again, with TWO more videos, Wrekonize and DJ I-Dee show us what they have been up to in China.
I’m surprised at how quick they been able to edit the videos with everything going on over there. In these two videos they take you to a 6 story mall (females get jealous now), play some drunken Uno, and have a house party where they cooked some chicken feet. Chicken feet!! Damn.. I can smell that shit already. Nasty.
Funniest thing is when Wrekonize eats some damn pigeon eggs, haha!!!!! His Chinese tour guide/friend was trying to explain how its just like like a chicken egg, but from a smaller bird. Wrek asks if its a pigeon, and I don’t think the dude knew what a pigeon was. Its official, you nasty for that one Wrek!
Wrekonize and DJ I-Dee: Touring in China All of August
August 7th, 2007 // Posted by sweet dick vega
Flying out on July 31, local battle champ Wrekonize and superstar DJ I-Dee set off to China to perform in various clubs. Tagged along with DJ Infader, they’ve been recording every step of the way.
From bumping into China’s version of boy bands, N’Chink (check the video), to checking out the one and only Hooters, Chinese style. Seems like its been a fun trip so far, especially with the exchange rate! As Wrek put it, “In Miami I’m broke, but in China i’m a baller!!!“.
Haha.. Make it rain yuan on em son!
